Jim knew that he might have to close his business after becoming an insurance claims machine for the last 5 years to the point that no standard Insurance company would take him, so he unloaded his company on Miles and Jim flew the coop and disappeared off the radar screen just in case Miles decides to sue after he learned of the mess Jim left for him.

Tow Truck Insurance Arlington Tx — Cancelled Again!

Well, now Miles is in BIG trouble. Six weeks prior Miles felt relieved. Willie from Wile E Coyote Insurance Brokers said he could get a new policy for Miles as long as Miles was willing to change the name of his company — which he did and this process cost him thousands of extra dollars to do so in legal fees.

He needed to change the sign on the shop, buy new uniforms for his employees, sign new contracts with the local municipality, not to mention making countless calls to his customers to let them know about the name change —all to get that new business insurance policy that is now being cancelled from the new company.

Miles is also confused on why he was cancelled because the company is vague on the actual reason why —it simply states: for underwriting reasons.

What are the ‘underwriting’ reasons Miles wonders as he quickly dial the number to Wile E Coyote Insurance Brokers?

Miles asks to speak with Willie and of course he doesn’t answer the phone, the secretary wants to know if she should connect Miles to Willies voice mail and unquestionably Miles wants to leave a message very badly- well actually give Willie a piece of his mind as fear slithers up and down his spine as if an invisible python is slowing constricting his body in preparation for a tasty meal.

But Miles desperately needs the insurance because he can’t runs his business without it, he needs to know why he is being canceled and can the company decision be reversed?

He leaves a message for Willie and reads the cancellation letter again to see if he missed something in the notice, but alas he discovers nothing new and throws the letter on his desk in anger and goes about his business keeping in mind that ticking time clock cancellation — in just 3 weeks his new policy will end and so could the large investment he made in buying Jim’s Towing and Repair Shop.

Unable to concentrate on his work he decides to give Jim a call again, after leaving 10 previous voice mail messages he tries to disguise his number, but again is greeted with Jim’s voice mail that simply states: Hey this is Jim, I’m retired now, leave a message and maybe, just maybe I’ll call you back…beep.

Miles leaves an 11^th voice mail giving Jim a verbal tongue lashing which he knows in realty isn’t any more likely to prompt Jim to return any of the previously messages he left, but oh it feels good, at least momentarily, to give someone a piece of his mind because everything seems to be falling apart!

After a few hours and no return call from either Jim or Willie from Wile E Coyote Insurance Brokers, Miles calls Willie again and the secretary once again tells Miles Willie is not available so Miles asks to speak with Willies’ supervisor.

Miles get connected to Willie’s supervisor’s voice mail, the supervisor’s name is Robert Zilvinch, and Miles leaves a voice mail explaining what happened and posed the all-important question—why is his policy cancelled until the voicemail system notifies Miles that he has run out of time and gives him 2 options —save your message or record a new one?

Miles blows his stack and angrily slams the phone down not even certain if the message he recorded was saved on Mr. Robert Zilvinch voicemail box.

Miles is ready to go postal despite his lack of actual work experience for the US postal service.

Miles doesn’t receive a return phone call from Willie or Jim for that matter, but 3 days later Miles receives a return call from Mr. Robert Zilvinch who explains some facts to Miles, Facts that make his blood pressure skyrocket.

Fort Worth Texas Tow Truck Insurance – Not Insurable for a Good Rate!

Five days later the agent from Wile E Coyote Insurance Brokers calls to give Miles VERY bad news.

“Miles, I feel really bad in telling you this, I know you are the new owner and all but I can’t find a single insurance company that will take you except for one, and I’ve got the quote here and it’s bad, very bad but they are the only company that will take you and it’s going to be $125,000 for the year to insure your business. The company will also need $50,000 as a down payment.”

Miles is so shocked he can’t speak. He knows he can’t afford to pay that much for insurance, why he just paid Jim a little over $350,000 for the entire business, how can he pay $125,000 a year in insurance premiums?

“Miles, hello Miles, are you there?” The Wile E Coyote Insurance Broker asks.

“Ugh, yeah I’m here, are you sure that is right? How much was Jim paying before?”

“Well it looks like he was paying about $1,900 per month, but the reason why no one will take you is because, well frankly…not trying to hurt your feelings or make you mad or anything but Jim had too many claims filed and the insurance company lost a bundle on Jim’s business, I warned Jim about this last year and told him he would have trouble getting reasonable insurance rates but he kept turning those small claims in until the $100,000 claim last April.”

Miles slaps his forehead in frustration because he was responsible for that $100,000 claim himself when he hit a van accidently and several people were injured and then sued Jim’s Towing & Repair.

Miles wondered silently if Jim was trying to get back at him by selling the business to me because I caused that accident.

Miles suddenly has an idea. “What if I change the name of the business, do you think someone would take me, like an under new management sort of thing?”

“I’m not sure, but we can give it a shot, what would be the name of the new company?”

“Let me get back with you Willie.” Miles hops off the phone and starts to think of a name.

The next day, without telling his wife Emily he comes up with the name of the new company and calls the agent at Wile E Coyote Insurance Broker.

Tow Truck Insurance Dallas Tx – Policy Scenario Part Three.

In a previous article we learned about Miles Goldberg a long term employee working at Jim’s Towing & Repair Shop. Miles bought Jim’s Towing & Repair Shop from the owner, Jim Gareth, who seemed to pull a fast one on Miles leaving him on the hook for a large financial loss.

Let’s now revisit a conversation Miles was about to have with his wife of 23 years at their anniversary dinner.

“Emily I wanted to talk to you about my job at Jim’s Towing & Repair, it looks like Jim is going to be selling soon and he might sell it to that rascal Sammy Smithereens, you know that big guy who doesn’t like me really well and to be honest the feeling is pretty much mutual, if he buys the company I will be out of a job.”

“Oh, no Miles what are you going to do?”

Well Jim really wants to sell his business to me, in fact he is much said so a couple times, he showed me the books and it looks like the business is making pretty good money and I was hoping to talk to you about the possibility of maybe purchasing the company from Jim, I’ve already done some research we have enough savings plus if we take out a home equity line of credit on the house in conjunction with an SBA loan we will have enough money to buy the business.”

“Well I don’t know about that Miles, our house is paid off and the money we have saved up is for our retirement, do you think it’s really a wise idea to use all the money and to go into so much debt to buy this business to keep your job?”

“It’s not just a matter of keeping my job Emily, it will be an opportunity for us to have a better lifestyle, why I could probably make enough money so you can quit your nursing job, sure you make the lion share of our income right now but I’m the man of the house and buying Jim’s Towing & Repair could make that happen and besides Jim really wants to sell the business to me, and this is what he’s offered to sell it for.”

Miles slides over the financial information showing the sales price. Emily poses a question, “this includes the trucks, building and equipment of the shop?”

“Yep, it’s a good deal isn’t it?” “We should jump on it before that rat Sammy Smithereens gets the chance to buy!”

“Well I don’t know Miles that is a lot of money to put in one place, I’m not convinced we should do it, besides you are good at what you do you can get hired on anywhere if Sammy fires you.”

Miles and Emily discussed the matter over the course of the next few hours and finally Miles convinced his wife to go along with this ‘investment opportunity’ despite her staunch objections, the house they live in now is Miles’ home as a settlement from his last divorce.’

Miles doesn’t come out and outright say it but he implies to Emily that it’s really his decision on the house since it’s in his name only and is not part of their marital assets.

Miles calls Jim on his cell phone later and tells him he’s got a deal, and the rest as they save is history.

“Well apparently the trucks owned by your new company Greenie Meanie Tow Truck Service were owned by Hulk Towing, right?”

“Well that could be true maybe, I can find out for sure and get back to you.” Bob continues as he’s digging a deeper ditch for himself.

Stanley continues, “Well it seems that the insurance company thinks this is what they described here…a sham transaction or purchase and they don’t want to take the chance to insure your company. Did you want us to check with any other companies?”

“Well let me get back with you.” Bob states.

Bob is busted.

He tried to pull a fast one by engaging in a sham sale of his business to a relative to get around the cancellation of his previous policy. Closing one business downs and reopening under a new name.
