In our previous article you can read by clicking on Tow Truck Insurance Baltimore Maryland we learned about Carjacked Towing, owned and operated by one Jack Frank. Carjacked Towing specializes in the repo business.

Nonetheless an opportunity comes along to obtain an exclusive city contract to handle towing jobs for abandoned and disabled vehicles in the city proper and store said vehicles at their large impound facility.

Typically cities maintain their own impound lot but they are trying out a pilot program to outsource to a local business in an effort to save money- the city employees who likely will suddenly find themselves unemployed may not be so happy about this arrangement, but in an effort to reduce their expenses this was one program run by the city that could be outsourced.

Carjacked Towing gets an opportunity to bid on the city account and Jack has an inside person to help him along.

Jack places the bid for the contract on the very last day and because he has a “friend” working for the city in just the right department he pays a few thousand to his “friend” and his “friend” helps Jack land the city contract.

Jack is thrilled but they have a problem — Jack owns a number of trucks for his repo business but with the expected increased volume of business Jack will need to buy at least 4 more tow trucks and hire at least 10 more drivers fast, like yesterday.

He places a number of employments ads and starts looking for trucks for sale.

Jack makes some calls to his usual dealers and their inventory is a bit low and only 3 trucks are available at his price point so he goes to visit the dealer, negotiates the price and now he is only missing two trucks.

Jack doesn’t want to buy 1 brand new truck and he suddenly remembers his cousin Vinny who has a reputation for acquiring items that are hard to find at a great price, Jack has never asked his cousin about commercial trucks but he thinks, what’s the harm?

Jack gives Vinny a call.

“Say Vinny how is the low hanging fruit work going?” Jack teases as Vinny picks up the phone.

Vinny’s family (The Franks) immigrated to the US years ago and worked in the fields and the entire family jokes about the good old days of picking fruit to earn a living.

“The fruit business is not so good today Paso my boy, but hanging around and doing nothing is your specialty eh, Paso?” Paso has been Jack’s nickname since a teen.

“Well someone has got to be in charge and make sure the chickens don’t come home to roost.” Jack replied.

“What can I do for you today Paso or is this a social call?”

Jack explains that he is in a bit of a spot and needs a certain tow truck model for the business at a certain price and he wanted to know if Vinny had any contacts that could find him what he needed?

Jack intentionally lowers the price he is willing to pay by about $8,000.

“Well I might know someone Paso, how quick do you need the truck?”

“In 2 weeks or less.” Jack replies.

“Let me make some calls Paso and I will see what I can do, you will pay cash correct?”

“Sure thing Vinny.” Jack confirms.

“Ok, I’ll see what I can do and get back to you soon.” Vinny hangs up the phone.

As Jack sets the phone down he notices out of the corner of his eye Jimmy Newtown, trying to sneak by Jack’s office. Jack flies out of his office to have a conversation with one of his newest employees.
