Owner Operator Insurance Farmington Hills – Learning About Exclusions: Racing, Part 14

We just witnessed one of our boys, Jimmy, get into an accident during this much anticipated race.

He was in a rush to pass his friend Joey. He got a bit flustered that he might lose to him, and that caused him to drive recklessly.

He ended up slamming through a barrier and bending a light post while also severely denting the hood and possibly components under the hood.

Let’s take a look at the exclusions listed in his policy once again:

EXCLUSIONS – Racing

Covered “autos” while used in any professional or organized racing or demolition contest or stunting activity, or while practicing for such contest or activity. This insurance also does not apply while that covered “auto” is being prepared for such a contest or activity.

Since Jimmy and Joey were both participating in an organized racing event, the coverage they put on their vehicles likely would not be honored by their insurance providers.

Likewise, if anything had happened while Joey was preparing with modifications or practicing for the race – damage to the truck, bodily injury, or property damage – it would not have been covered in that case, either.

Jimmy, meanwhile, will likely have to pay the full price for any repairs he has to get done to his truck.

It looks like neither Youngster Jimmy nor Youngster Joey won, in this instance.
