Dudley Dew Right is a bit puzzled and at the same time 99.99% sure XYZ Auto Insurance Company doesn’t sell tow truck insurance but to verify he calls the company directly to find out.

As he dials he is quickly greeted by a friendly receptionist named Sally, “XYZ Auto Insurance this is Sally speaking how can I direct your call?”

I’m looking to get a quote on Tow Truck Insurance Sally.” Dudley mentions.

“Ah, do you need your car to be towed?  What is your policy number?” Sally inquired.

“No, I want a quote on commercial tow truck insurance and I was told you now offer business auto insurance it so I need a quote.” Dudley replied.

“I’m not sure we sell that business auto insurance, especially tow truck insurance did you say?”

“Yes mam” Dudley replied politely.

“Can I get your name and then put you on hold?”

“Certainly” Dudley replied.  About 2 minutes later Sally jumps back on the line to advise she is transferring him to another department, specifically Stan Earnest, sales manager for the local area.

“Mr. Dew Right I’m Stan Earnest and it is my understanding you are looking to buy commercial tow truck insurance, is that right?”

“Yes sir, I was told your company sells it.”  Dudley answered.

  “Can I ask you a question, why do you think we sell tow truck insurance?” 

“Well a customer bought a tow truck policy just last week from your company and I wanted to find out about that because it was my understanding you don’t offer this type of insurance.”

“Mr. Dew Right I can confirm we don’t sell tow truck insurance in Indiana or any type of business insurance of any kind is there more to your question?”

Busted, Dudley confesses he is an insurance agent and lost an account to XYZ Auto Insurance by someone who supposedly bought a tow truck insurance policy and he was checking to see if perhaps XYZ Auto Insurance opened up a new division selling commercial insurance.

Stan Earnest after hanging up with Dudley is a little puzzled at the conversation and he decides to call Dudley back, he discovers Dudley’s telephone number on his caller ID.

Stan has a particular question that he wants to ask Dudley.  We will learn what that question is in a future article.
