How Do Tickets and Accidents Effect Car Insurance in Cincinnati?

Monday, September 6th, 2010

That depends upon how many tickets and or accidents are on one’s record.  If your insurance company hits you with a large rate increase on car insurance in Cincinnati because of your driving record click here to obtain competitive quotes from other companies who might be willing to give you a better deal on car insurance in Cincinnati.

Let’s review a client example of actual car insurance premiums in Cincinnati and how tickets and accidents might affect their premium rates.

Example 1:

A married couple in their mid-40s with no children driving 2 late-model vehicles with full coverage and liability limits of 100/300 with a $500 deductible who had no tickets or accidents on their record in the last five years.

Six month premium = $484

Example 2:

Using the same example as above lets add one speeding ticket to the husband’s license.

Six month premium = $496

Example 3:

Let’s add one additional speeding ticket to the husband for a total of two speeding tickets.

Six month premium = $563

Example 4:

Let’s assume the husband has three speeding tickets

Six month premium = $829

Example 5:

Let’s also add an accident and keep the three speeding tickets for the husband

Six month premium = $1314

If there’s only one minor speeding violation on the driving record the premium doesn’t fluctuate that much. (Unless it’s a driver under the age of 25) and as we can see, the premium amount can grow significantly larger as more activity is added to the husband’s driving record.

What’s interesting with example number five is that 4 incidents on your record with most insurance companies will get you canceled by your insurance company in Cincinnati!  At that point you would be considered to be a high risk driver.  Even if this insurance company did not cancel this insurance policy, the car insurance premiums in Cincinnati have increased by 2 1/2 times!

Speeding tickets, accidents, and claims will affect your insurance premiums in Cincinnati very negatively.  However that being said not all insurance companies look at multiple tickets, accidents, or claims in the same way.  Some insurance companies in Cincinnati may be willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and offer cheaper rates than your current company.  Click here for an instant rate quote on your automobile insurance if you live in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana.  If you do not live in one of these states you can still receive an insurance quote.

Speeding Tickets Increase As Tax Revenue Decreases for Small Towns

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

An interesting article appeared in the Cincinnati Enquirer:  Speeding tickets jump in small towns

The article cited data from the Ohio Supreme Court that shows a 7% statewide increase in traffic citations. Of the 33 Mayors Courts in Hamilton County 22 have seen an increase in tickets being issued!

What’s that mean to you when you buy car insurance in Cincinnati?

Higher rates on car insurance if you get extra speeding tickets in Cincinnati!

If you have had the unfortunate experience of having your insurance company increase your rates on car insurance because of too many tickets click here to receive car insurance quotes from companies who will give you a break on your premiums if you have one too many tickets, claims, or accidents in Cincinnati.

Why tickets go up as tax revenue goes down?

Its simple economics.  Tickets can bring in needed revenue for the townships facing unprecedented budget cuts.  For instance if the average police officer earns $50,000 per year, that officer would only need to issue 500 tickets a year at an average cost of $100 to cover his salary. (Some tickets can be significantly higher than $100.)

500 tickets sounds like a lot but it’s only an average of two tickets a day, assuming that the police officer works five days per week and has two weeks of paid vacation. If the officer can issue three tickets per day that brings in an additional $25,000 per year in revenue!!

According to the website speedingticketCentral.com some towns like New Rome, Ohio and Waldo, Florida take in over 70% of their entire town budget through speeding tickets!

How do you avoid speed traps and getting tickets?

Instead of purchasing the latest laser/radar detectors why don’t we all try something simple such as?

Obeying the traffic laws!

How badly do tickets affect your insurance rates in Cincinnati?

In the next article I’ll share actual examples.  In the meantime if you have had one too many tickets accidents or claims in Cincinnati and your insurance company decides to hit you with a massive rate increase, click here to receive new car insurance quotes. Why do you need a local insurance agent in Cincinnati to care for your insurance needs?

Why is buying insurance online with Progressive the least recommended way to do so in our opinion?

As was mentioned insurance is a very complicated legal contract.  There are many exclusions or restrictions of coverage on your insurance policy.  When you buy your car insurance direct with Progressive insurance in Cincinnati you are in a sense your own insurance agent, do you feel completely confident being your own insurance agent?

Did Your Agent Explain to You the 231 Ways Your Insurance Company can Legally Refuse to Pay Your Car Insurance Claim in Cincinnati?

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Did you know if you violate the terms and conditions of your policy, your insurance company may refuse to pay your claim?  More importantly, did your agent explain these reasons to you so that you don’t end up paying a claim out of pocket without the benefit of insurance?

If your insurance agent did not invest any time in explaining these coverage scenarios to you, other than “read your policy” why is he/she your insurance agent?

Insurance is no mere commodity like a loaf of bread.  Insurance is a complex contract between you and your insurance company and if you violate a condition of your contract the insurance company may very well refuse to pay your claim.

Guys and their Cars uid 734096The most obvious reason why insurance companies can refuse to pay claims is when you are committing insurance fraud by turning in a claim that is based on deception.

Do you know the 230 additional reasons  why your insurance company can legally refuse to pay your claim?

Notice four additional reasons why your insurance company may refuse to pay a claim:

A son or daughter no longer is a member of your household but remains on your car insurance policy.

You use your vehicle to deliver pizzas.

You conceal information from your insurance company.

You give permission for someone to drive your vehicle whom has a suspended driver’s license.

There are 225 other reasons why your insurance company might refuse to pay your claim and it’s not because they are trying to cheat you.  If your claim was turned down it’s because you violated the terms and conditions of your policy.

As I have emphasized in many articles on this web site.  There are many restrictions of coverage on your Cincinnati car and home insurance policies that some unsuspecting insurance buyers may not be aware of until a claim happens and the insurance company doesn’t pay.

If you do not take time to read and understand your insurance policy or if your agent does not take the time to explain the 231 reasons why your insurance company can refuse to pay claims, perhaps you have the wrong insurance agent taking care of your insurance?

Doesn’t it make more sense to purchase your insurance from an agency that takes time to explain the coverage gaps and pitfalls of your insurance policy?

While it is true that no agency or individual agent is perfect, we firmly believe that educating our Cincinnati clients is more important than a cheap insurance price with no advice.™

We are available at any time to discuss individual coverage needs or restrictions of coverage with existing clients of Pathway Insurance or if you are not an existing client of Pathway Insurance why not take the time to consider allowing our local Cincinnati-based insurance agency to care for your insurance needs?
